Americas Cup 2009?

It appears that the emotionally charged 33 rd Americas Cup will be held in Valencia in the summer of 2009.

Following numerous court sittings a New York judge has decided something about something else which means some sort of event will be held amongst two boats far off the shore and out of most peoples view. It will no doubt comprise unnecessarily complicated and obscure rules making the event just as boring as the 32nd.

Thank God for F1, which like the FIM president Max Mosesly, still takes some beating!

Iberdrola profits shock!

Spain's second largest electricity producer has announced 1st quarter profits almost tripled. They attribute this to overseas expansion and higher power prices at home. Maybe also benefiting from operating under monopoly conditions  in many areas I suppose!

Net income rose from €458m to €1.9b - spectacular!

Less impressive:

-they still can't operate a supply system that doesn't trip out at the first sign of a storm!

-bills mostly arrive after they've had your money!

-changing billing details seems always to need doing at least twice!

Ayuntamiento Lliria Urbanization charges - are you paying too much!

The Ayuntamiento has announced that it is to sponsor local motorcycle rider Hector Faubel to the tune of €23000.00

Now there's sensible use of public money!

They can probably fund it using money from urbanization charges.

City beach apartment bargain.

Just in -  a 3 bedroom apartment just 300m from the city beach, a 15 minute walk to the F1 circuit, Americas Cup port and only 5km from the city centre. At €138000 this has to be an investment!

Valencia bargains to be had!

We have had a number of sellers reducing their prices to sell due to the strength of the pound. A decrease in the sale price still leaving them with the same funds when transfered back to the UK.

Have a look on our web page for the latest reduction: http://www.rawlinsholden.com/Valencia%20property%20for%20sale.htm

Olocau developer gone walkabout!

Many purchasers of homes on the Residencial Royal Estate development in Pedralvilla, Olocau have been left high and dry after the disappearance of the developer. Phones are no longer being answered and emails not responded to.

Many have been left without the final paperwork needed for total legalisation of their homes and connection to basic services, whilst others have put down hefty deposits with nothing to show for it!

Spains population to reach 50 million

According to the National Statistics Office the population of Spain will hit 50 million by 2015.

This despite the average age of first time mothers being 31 and having an an average 1.5 children - must make for a difficult birth!

The population increase is attributed mainly to immigration.

Valencia airport passenger figures

Figures for passenger numbers for  2007 just released show an increase of 19.3% over 2006.  This represents just under 6 million in 2007 against 5 million in 2006.

This now rates Valencia as the 8th busiest airport in Spain whilst only 3 years ago it was 13th.

The increase is attributed to the low cost airlines, but comes with a downside! As a result of the passenger increase it will almost certainly be upgraded in status necessitating more security controls in line with larger airports and with it increased security taxes.

Formula 1 Valencia
